Hello,
My name is Jeff Locke. Some may remember me from 2008 when I ran
for the board as a write-in candidate. Well, I'm back and intending to
run again, this time on the actual ballot. But, there is a dilema. As I
do not have a full time job at the moment (I work for the Census for a
few more weeks) and am interviewing for teaching positions all over the
place, if I am offered a teaching position at Kern High I am most likely
going to take it. Which means I cannot be on the board and someone else
will have to run.
The ballot for the board opens this week, and
we will see if Ken Mettler chooses to try to reclaim his spot. There
are three positions up for grabs this time, and the purpose of this
message is for you to start thinking of who could run for those other
spots. Do you know an ex-teacher or counselor? How about anyone with
in-depth knowledge of the school system? Even an intelligent and
thoughtful person with an interest in our children's education would be
great.
Think about the development of the world throughout
history. The one common factor in the advancement of our civilization is
the education of its people. To me, the single most important public
service is our educational system, and without public support and
intelligent leaders, it could just waste away...
