I am a true conservative and believe in the democracy conceived by our Founding Fathers. I have twice sworn an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. I do not believe that businesses or unions should enjoy the same protections provided by the Bill of Rights that individuals presently have.
I believe we must find a way to dramatically curtail the influence that cash donations from special interests, big business and foreign governments presently holds over the political process.
We are witnessing a rising tide of influence, and political and economic power, in the hands of monopolies or oligopolies such as insurance companies, financial institutions and drug companies. The resulting concentration of influence over elected officials, the power to control media and the ability to wield enormous economic weight will eventually overwhelm the republic. As the central government in Washington DC is assailed and weakened, regionalism and the powerful economic interests will fill the power vacuum. A totalitarian corporate state will emerge. This new reality will have little respect for individual rights or privacy, descent or expression. Government by the people will be replaced by government by the corporate elite. The nation will be divided into spheres of influence. In the end, America, the best hope of humanity, will have gone full circle. Our immigrant ancestors were little more than surfs. They became the free men and women of today. In a short while, we will be surfs again. Surfs of the corporate state. Oddly enough, the people will willingly surrender their freedom because of irrational fears of black helicopters, ill-defined government conspiracies and a profound paranoia that "they" are going to seize guns from individuals.
Consider carefully who you are voting for. Few candid and plain spoken politicians are elected anymore. Today we vote based upon our fears. The candidate capable of instilling the greatest fear of his opponent in the minds of the voters wins. Cash can fuel a very effective propaganda machine. A political party should represent the needs of the people not the power of cash. Think carefully. Look for the reality behind the appearance. Follow the money trail. Vote wisely.
